I really wanted to like these shorts Man, I really wanted to like these shorts. The fabric is great (I mean fantastic, soft but a little nubbly and thick), the color is great, I like the layout of the pockets and it fits well in the waist and butt. HOWEVER, the leg openings are kind of insanely big, at least on me. I have slender thighs but am a little thick in the middle (38″), and short manufacturers seem to be convinced that anyone with a 38″ waist must have big thighs. Columbia seems to think I must be an elephant…

More quality problems at Columbia I bought two pairs of these shorts in different colors, but the same size 36. The first pair fit fine but the waist on the second pair was too big by about 3.5 inches. I mean way off. I measured. I tried to shrink them to no avail. This inconsistency is very frustrating and seems to be par for the course as Columbia moves its manufacturing to cheaper and cheaper places and materials. I had a similar problem with other pants I bought at the local store, but it was easier to bring them back.

Very nice casual shorts I have several of this same line in long pants and now love the shorts, too. The fabric is great: lightweight and fairly soft but tough and wears well, and they are well made. Relaxed fit and the waist seems a bit larger than stated size but not by much. The 8″ length come to just above my knees which works well.
