Build a nice log cabin fire. Heck, build a nice log cabin home. The Woods Chogan is designed by Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical to make your life easy when you’re off the grid. The design for this t-hawk evolved from the popular and original Chogan Tactical Tomahawk. The Woods Chogan is made from a solid chunk of 1055 carbon steel that is hot forged into a rock-solid head and features a hammer finish. The t-hawk has primary and secondary edge bevels that are flat ground to cut through timber like a beaver. A hammer head is useful for pounding in nails and tent stakes. The thick wood handle is made in the USA from Tennessee hickory. It’s comfortable in hand and sealed with a lacquer coat that adds durability when you’re in the backcountry. The Woods Chogan T-Hawk isn’t your friend when you’re busting your chops in the forest; it’s your sidekick. Also available: The Woods Kane T-hawk with a spike head.

The 1055 carbon steel is excellent for chopping and hammering and is easily sharpened This is a really well-designed and well-made tomahawk. The 1055 carbon steel is excellent for chopping and hammering and is easily sharpened. The hickory handle is also well-made, but it doesn’t fit perfectly. I had to pound the handle head to get the blade fairly tight initially but after some use it’s on there solidly. I originally bought this ‘hawk for camping: light chopping and hammering, but find that I use it for heavier chopping than one would use a hatchet. The 19″ hickory handle…

Great lil companion! At first I owned the cold steel pipe hawk and after falling in love with that I started realizing i needed something with more weight and power so it was time for an upgrade. The CRKT Chogan T-hawk was a great choice. The head is significantly heavier and chops far better. It’s forged harder on both striking ends and more springy in-between. The only thing I didn’t like was the handle. Good wood but not great for my preference. At 19 inches it fell just a little bit short for my comfort level…

Solid well designed tool….head is machine pressed though. The Chogan T-hawk arrived on time and I was much more impressed with it, rather than its cousin the Kangee. The CRKT again has made a well balanced and useful tool. The Chogan though described like a tomahawk, has a machine pressed head attached to the handle. There are some burrs as you would expect from this process at the top of the axe, but that’s forgivable. The head is firmly attached and not removable without substantial force, unlike your standard tension held tomahawk, which isn’t a…
