zipper at thigh too tight even when pants fit correctly It fits fine in all respects, a true 10 (I always wear a 10) but the weird thing is that the zipper where the pant leg comes off (to make shorts) is TOO TIGHT (if you go to the Columbia web site you will see tons of reviews there saying the same thing.) What a shame, these are great pants and a nice stretchy fabric but the zipper does not stretch so as soon as you kneel down or go up stairs, any time you bend your knee, that zipper digs into your leg. Great pants for thin legs Re: Size 4 Short. -I read about these being tight at the zip line, and they are slim. The shorts measure 8.5″ lying flat at hem and the inseam is 10″. They do feel loser when unzipped and wearing as shorts. I would probably not go climbing in these. Size 4-Short pants inseam is 30.5″ and the length is great for 5-2″-5’3″. The material is lightweight and show every bulge and article you may be carrying. Unforgiving on a less than perfect derrière.
