Council Tool 2 lb. Hudson Bay axe head outfitted with an 18-Inch curved hickory handle and furnished with a sheath. One-handed camp axe. Used for light splitting, chopping, driving tent pegs, etc. The pattern is thought to have originated from “Biscayan” in Northern Spain, near France. French traders used this hand axe as a trade tool in their dealings with Native American for fur and other commodities in the Hudson Bay area, St. Lawrence River and other trade routes. Includes sheath.

Quality U.S. Made Axe. Head is hung straight on the handle. The eye is symmetrical. The basic grind on the edge is symmetrical. The handle has a nice feel, could be a little thicker for me though. I like the heavy duty black epoxy coating. You will have to sharpen this axe before use. Apply sealant to the handle . Remember you will have to make a sheath.
American made Very nice American built axe. Good fit and finish. I woulf purchase again or buy to give as a gift.
Boundary Waters proven…. Excellent product. Sanded and coated the handle with Boiled Linseed Oil “BLO” and took this axe to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area BWCA. Served us well splitting cedar and pine for cooking over an open fire.
