Just terrific. Just terrific. Use them routinely to start my wood-burning stove and fires in the fireplace. I also bought another type from Amazon — can’t recall the name — flat cardboardy fire starters, promoted as green because they’re recycled. Don’t bother w/them, they are really hard to light and stay lit. Oh, and the Duraflame lighters? They’re also made of recycled stuff, if that’s meaningful to you.

They light split firewood with no kindling ever time. I set the firestarter either on the bottom of the fireplace under the supporting andiron or on the andiron and stack the wood over it.The unwrapped firestarters which are just a hunk of wax and sawdust that you break off don’t work worth a damn.
