1. Lift the Latch and open the cover.
2. Insert 3 AA Batteries.
3. Close the cover and lower the latch.

GREAT … when it shines … but … 3rd one FAILED TOO! First one arrived just in time to save me from 110 degree temps as it help me install a room air conditioner at night when it was too hot to work in the day. FANTASTIC LIGHT – MORE TOOL THAN TOY!! This is the 4th Energizer headlamp I’ve purchased. The first one recently broke where the light pivots, but still works great. This light is well engineered and built tough. I can see how it would grip to hardhats, though there is no mention ANYWHERE as to how this works. There are a couple of wavy beads running on the inside of the main headband.
