Useless when you need it Bought this at the beginning of hurricane season to replace a 14 year old Eton crank radio that still worked, but whose plastic had become tacky from age. Glad we kept the old one. This Esky is useless. Cranked until my arm was sore, because you don’t have enough sunlight during a storm for the solar to work. Pretty good design, but I have a slight concern that the rechargeable battery will be permanently dead in an emergency I bought this in the winter, so I didn’t test the solar charging. But it does work fine as a crank charger. When I bought it, the battery was charged enough to test the radio and the flashlight. Both work just fine. It comes with two cables: a USB type A to mini-USB cable for charging the radio from a USB type A port (the type you’re used to); and a specific cable for charging an external device. Functional & Affordable This is my first product from this manufacturer but third one of these overall. My others are by the Red Cross. Thankfully, I have not had to use this in an actual emergency situation or for a prolonged amount of time but from my testing it appears it will perform as intended.
