Fatwood: $28 Not splitting kindling: Priceless Living in a cold climate, I love having a fire on those nippy winter nights. But the older I get, the harder it gets for this old lady to chop kindling. I am thrilled at the ease of starting a fire with this fatwood. I put 2 or 3 sticks of fatwood on a small amount of paper and hit it with a lighter. I have a nice roaring fire in no time flat. Love this stuff!
Never fails to work Our UPS driver brought in the box of fatwood and said he couldn’t do without the stuff. I agreed. Fatwood never fails to fire up the firewood in our masonry heater. We only use one stick in first load. If your firewood tends to be on the damp or green side, place two or three sticks of fatwood in strategic locations, surrounded by loose newspaper. It’ll work, unless your firewood has been swimming in the creek or is as green as Hermit the frog. Stay warm and cozy!
So far so good This Fatwood burns pretty good but I have to use a fire starter to get it going. Kindle may suffice but I am so bad at making a ceremonial fire that I just take all the short cuts & use a piece of firestarter. I cannot light the fatwood directly even though it contains resin. I hold the lighter under the fatwood & it does not ignite. I ignite a firestarter & place the fatwood over the fire & after a few minutes the fatwood ignites. I can’t compare this product to other fatwood as I’ve only…
