FIRE STARTER
• Includes steel flint, striker saw, emergency whistle, compass, and ruler
• Easily lights campfires, stoves, paper, dry grass, and other combustible materials
• Bright spark can be used as emergency signal when necessary
• Works even when wet and cold

INSTRUCTIONS
1) Remove black paint on new fire starter rod with striker or knife.
2) Take a small quantity of dry grass, paper or other combustible material and build up into a small pile.
3) Hold the fire starter rod with one hand. Hold the striker with the other hand and force the striker (on the thin straight edge, not the saw portion) down the length of the fire starter rod quickly. Position the striker at about at 25-35 degree angle for best results.
This action creates the sparks that will light the combustible material. The idea is to use the sharp edge of the striker (flint) to peel or shave a tiny scrape of metal off the steel.

WARNING:
Use extreme caution and be aware of your surroundings. To be used outdoors only. This could cause damage, injury, and/or death. This is not a toy and should not be used by children. Use at your own risk.

NurseGirl says:

safety and LIGHT!! be smart and store it with emergency supplies, out of kiddo reach. because you never know when a heat source will be needed, when SCE fails. and it does.

Susan Duffy says:

A great fire starter I was a bit hesitant on purchasing this. I was planning on using it on some of my camping trips but I never used one like this and I’m very happy to report that it works far better than I had hoped. Throw away your matches for good because this is all that you will need.

Tom L says:

Buy it for the Fire Starter, not the compass. If I was lost in the woods, I would survive with the fire starter, but would remain lost with the compass.Compass is off over 25 degrees. Fires tarter works great. Serrated edge on striker is good for making tinder.
