Excellent quality/value, very sharp, holds it edge, flexibility of blade provides controlled/detailed final shaping/smoothing. This draw knife is excellent for more controlled/detailed shaping of walking sticks/canes. I use this knife after debarking and debunking wood when making walking sticks/canes/etc. It was very sharp right out of the box. It has some “flex” to it and the ergonomic handle to blade configuration makes it very useful in more detailed shaping of the wood. AT THE PRICE I DO NOT THINK I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER – This drawknife meets my needs perfectly I had been looking for a tool, in this case a drawknife, for specific use in making canes; a hobby of mine for a number of years now. I was also looking for a draw knife that did not require a mortgage on my home or requiring me to sell my first born into bondage. When I ordered this knife I had some trepidations – primarily due to the relative low cost. Hey, I did not want to spend all that much, but on the other hand I did not want a hunk of junk on my hands – goodness knows I have enough…

Don’t waste your money. While the blade itself is decent enough, the fact that the handles fall off after just a few (try 8) fully seasoned trees is OUTRAGEOUS. The company chose to only glue in the handles, not screw them in. And since all your force is being used to pull down on the handles to de bark the tree, this proves to loosen and break the handles off. Piece of junk, go for a better model and steer clear of this trash.
