About Gerber: A History of Innovation
Savvy. Moxie. Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that have contributed to Gerber’s emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon’s Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.

It makes sense, really. An idea man gets the idea of a lifetime and turns it into a major outdoor brand–one that commands respect among knife lovers and knife makers alike. And now that same high regard is spreading in new directions, in the form of many outstanding products such as tools, personal L.E.D. lighting, and more.

Not the same knife they made 20 years ago Had a Gator 650 for many years until my son lost it for me. That was a great knife. The new one just feels cheap and the blade is loose. I have found that the Leatherman multitools are a lesser quality that they were 15 years ago too. Thank God for the 25 year full replacement deal. They may not last, but I keep a spare to use while they are sending out a new one.

Well Made/Good Grip I wanted a sturdy folding knife for hiking and camping. I researched a lot of knives and kept coming back to this one. I was a little concerned that the 420HC blade might not hold up well, but this has turned out to be one of my better purchases. It has enough chrome in it so I don’t need to worry about rust, like my two 1095 knives, but it’s balanced with the right amount of carbon to make this knife very sturdy. It maintains a sharp edge even with heavy use. The handle is well made and…

Best pocket / hip folding knife I have ever owned! The Gerber folding Gator #6069 is the best folding knife I have ever owned. I have carried one for probably 20 years by now and my original knife is still as good as new. I have used it to gut trout, small animals, pheasant, etc. It has also assisted me in skinning deer and elk.The blade is sharp and easy to re-sharpen. I prefer the straight edge on this model because it is easier to sharpen than a serrated edge. The rubberized grip is sure and secure. Even with blood soaked…
