great knife for the price. wish it was a little sharper. got my first deer this year and used this knife to gut it with. worked great, I wish it was a little sharper to start with but it got the job done. hook got in the way a little bit until it was time to use it. came in handy once I got threw the layers of skin and was able to use it to not catch the guts. found out that I need to invest in some kind of saw. thankfully someone had one handy for the ribs and pelvis area.
excellent buy this thing is amazing for the price I paid. right out of the package it was sharp enough to shave my arm. I and my group killed a total of 4 deer. This was the knife used to gut and skin them. After we were through with all four deer it took about 5 minutes to bring it back to shaving sharp again. The handle is easy to grip even when wet or covered in fat. The gut hook zipped right through the hide. This is my new go to knive.
I’m kind of a steel snob, but this knife … I’m kind of a steel snob, but this knife held up through all of white tail season. I have a small sharpener I would make sure to run it through before each skinning/quartering session but i’m very impressed with the quality design of this Gerber knife. Bonus points for the grip material. It handles being soaked in anything you can think of when cleaning an animal and still holds its “grippy-ness”. If I ever loose it i’ll make sure to order another one. I see this being a staple in my…
