The Gretsch G9101 NYC Camp Uke recreates the 1925-1935 Gretsch “Camp” uke – 8″ round body and all. This little axe is made to be thrown in your backpack and played whenever happy time happens. With its 13.5″ soprano scale length and 14 frets clear of the body, this little guy is easy to play. You’ll get lively ukulele tones, too, thanks to its maple top, back and sides. A wooden nut and saddle, friction tuning pegs, and a vintage-inspired blue sunburst semi-gloss finish completes the package. If you’re into historic ukes, the Gretsch G9101 NYC Camp Uke is a gotta-have!

Meh. This ukulele is beautiful, but out of my four ukuleles it’s my least favorite. The strings tend to clunk and rattle, and it just doesn’t sound that great–even my $35 ukulele sounds better and is more fun to play. This one mostly just hangs on the wall looking pretty. If you want a ukulele that sounds good and that you can really enjoy playing, I’d recommend you keep looking.

It’s Great! This is the best uke in this price range by far. It has an excellent tone. It plays in tune up the neck. It stays in tune. I wish they included a case. Other than that excellent in every way…

Fresh, Fun, Fantastic Uke! I LOVE this uke! I was a little hesitant about buying it – I’m partial to plastic saddles and nuts and this one has wood. It also does not have a separate fretboard, which is unusual. I’ve also heard that the original vintage Gretsch camp ukes have much better tone (though with ukes that age one has to be concerned about potential buzzes, warping, etc, so I’m sure there is a lot of variance in the quality of the originals).
