The Hampton Nautical Large Directional Desk Compass is a solid brass lightly distressed reproduction of an antique air-damped compass. The compass needle has long, balanced air paddles mounted perpendicular to the needle to allow stable readings. There is a needle lift thumbscrew to secure the compass needle while in transport. This compass makes a perfect desk accessory for the distinguished office. Nautical decor piece not intended for actual navigational use. TOTAL GARBAGE! Does not even point. Literally, a non functioning compass.UPDATE: They sent another one after I returned their defective item? SAME DEFECT! TOTAL GARBAGE.
Pass it up. A bummer. Do they really think putting red paint on the end of a pointer makes it magnetic…….Pass it up. And dial is off-center by 1/2 inch also. Very shoddy
very shoddy item. Purchased as a gift……….arrived very poorly packaged i.e. barely any padding, item had a screw missing, plus the small bead from the centre of the compass was broken & rolling around inside the unit………& on top of it all the compass didn’t even work……….some of the brass looked tarnished………all in all, very shoddy workmanship…………looked like they had just got it off a shelf stuffed it in a box that wasn’t even securely taped, stuffed it in a packaging box & sent…
