A bit unfortunate I bought this as a wedding gift and was excited that it came right before we had to leave (the wedding is out of state). The box looked very nice…. And that was about it. I opened it and instantly saw that the finish was nothing like in the photo. It had many scratches going in every direction and was overall a bit grungy. I had to pry it out of the box! I’m amazed they were able to get it in there which might explain the next part. When I opened it, the needle was sliding around the bottom…
Very nice compass, and it works. Had it for a few weeks now and really like it. I was nicely surprised by the high quality of the wooden presentation box it came in which is felt lined. The compass itself seems to be made of mostly brass and the dial is very nice. It actually works as a compass and sometimes I keep it in my back pocket if I am in an area I do not know too well. I have some military-type compasses, but I know I can sit on this one all day.
