After sanding down my front door and restaining it and putting several coats of outdoor polyurethane on it, the brass kick plate was the perfect finishing touch to make it look new. Actually, putting on the kick plate took less than five minutes and was the most rewarding part of the project.
Very nice brass plate for front door. Our front door was starting to show wear along the bottom panel, so this plate was purchased to cover this area up. It did a great job! The plate wasn’t real thick…as others have indicated, but it was certainly thick enough to look substantial on the door. I was concerned it might be just thin coated…but I received a brass plated metal plate which looks more expensive than it’s price. The product I got is made by Schlage. The holes are pre-drilled and includes the mounting screws. Is not to thin or thick. The item is a pain to remove from its package and you will probably tear the cardboard in several areas. The sticky glue material was most of the reason for the problem of the package problem. Other then that got the kick plate out and found it to be in perfect shape. Don’t over tighten the screws because it will leave dimples in the metal and after seeing some of my neighbors…
