The Koolatron 12 Volt compact cooler was specially designed to fit in those tight spaces between and behind the seats of your car, van or truck. This cooling unit plugs into your vehicle’s cigarette lighter, and can be set to keep your food up to 40 degree Fahrenheit colder than the outside temperature to cool your favorite drinks and snacks to 45 to 50 Fahrenheit degrees below the ambient temperature. It fits 80- 12 ounces cans, and is great for large families or serious tailgating.Coolers are usually large and unwieldy, which is why Koolatron developed the Compact Kooler, specially designed to fit in the snug spaces behind the seats of many cars, trucks, and vans. Like many of Koolatron’s coolers, this unit features a 12-volt cooling system that plugs into a car’s cigarette lighter. The cooler’s motor blows cold air over your food and beverages, keeping them 40 degrees F cooler than the outside temperature. The cooler also doubles as a warmer, if you’d rather keep the contents toasty. Outside of the car or truck, the cooler is still versatile, with a swinging, foldaway handle for easy portage and a latchless lid that opens with one hand. Other handy features include a convenient cord wrap and a unique storage spot for the unplugged cigarette lighter. Despite the unit’s compact size and weight (only 9 pounds), it can still hold up to 23 12-ounce soft drinks. –Rivers Janssen

Remember – this is a cooler, not a refrigerator. As a cooler, it does well. Basically it’s a cooler that you don’t need to hassle with ice packs. And it will keep things cool as long as you have a power source. Nice for long drives.

Works good, needed a small repair We bought this cooler for several long, cross country car trips we had planned with the kids. It does a good job of keeping drinks and snacks cool. Cools drinks down to about 40 degrees or so. Make sure to plug it in at least 24 hours ahead of time in your house so that it has time to cool down.

It works fantastic — with some planning. I’ve seen several posts about having problems with this product. It’s been great for me, as long as I remember how it works. It works using natural convection, not a fan or a huge heat sink like a big block of ice.
