The eXplorist 710 packs the most accurate maps into the palm of your hand. The World Edition map allows for 2D or 3D viewing angles. It includes a complete road network in United States, Canada, Western Europe, and Australia and major roads throughout the rest of the world and provides cartographic orientation in almost any location. This unique, preloaded map also includes water features, urban and rural land use, and a realistic shaded relief background. The eXplorist 710 also includes City Series and Summit Series USA maps, Summit Series USA is a highly detailed topographic map based on 1:24,000 scale source maps. user un-friendly I’m sure this is a really nice unit, but it was too cumbersome for me to use it (I’m pretty technical savy, but not an electronics geek).
Very good but not perfect! The interface is a little complicated and there are some minor quirks with the firmware that Magellan could fix but haven’t as of yet, but the worst shortcoming to me is the poor visibility in bright sunlight. For hiking, walking, mountain biking, and use in the car this issue usually isn’t a problem, but for riding my road bike it is a major problem. In that situation I use the night mode in the daytime, which helps a little, but still not very visible.
We like the unit wish the software was tad bit faster but a decent unit overall we give it a three or four star rating Overall some people might say this is a three or four stars because of the updates some of the technical things that have to be done during the update your screen is touching then go it’s response is not instantaneous, you can add the Nautilis waterways map if you desire so proximately $200. The soft touch that it sprayed over the plastic rubs off somewhat. Other than that they all seem to do geocaching mapping The moon the tides hunting and fishing calendar.
