The mobile unit also features 142 privacy codes, Channel scan, programmable squelch, silent operation, Flip frame design to install on or under the dash with slide out removal of radio while Bracket remains mounted and a high contrast backlit LCD display for daytime or night use. Happy so Far Updates at bottom of review. My preliminary review after install:Just got this installed in my truck. So far my biggest gripe is how short the power cable is at roughly 6 feet. I’m not sure how anyone aside from a home user can make do with 6ft. It just BARELY worked out to reach my +battery terminal after I extended it by about 8 inches. Good but not very configurable. This is a solid unit. The only complaint I have is that the 8 repeater channels are either *all* set to repeater mode or *all* as simplex mode. You can’t have some as repeater, some as simplex. I wish that fact was made more clear in their marketing info. If I had to get another 40W GMRS radio again I will probably go with an older Motorola GM300 or similar to have full control over how it can be configured. This unit is very good, but a bit simplistic for more than than average user.

Other than the price hike, it seems to work well as a mobile with the Tram mobile antenna. My base station at home (with Comet base antenna 5…
