It is very sharp, but the handle has begun … It is very sharp, but the handle has begun to chip around the head. It doesn’t instill a lot of covidence. Shipping was very fast however.
Super lightweight and does the job of a much heavier … Super lightweight and does the job of a much heavier hatchet. This is really the only small hatchet I would recommend for people that want to hike light but still carry a wood cutting tool.
Now part of my backpacking kit I took this on a short, two night backpacking trip. There’s obviously a trade-off with weight when it comes to hatchet usability, but we found this to work really well. We split wood and kindling for several hours worth of campfire and had no issues. My concern was with the design of the blade inside the handle. Splitting wood puts the handle in the impact area, but we had no problem. It’s not the best hatchet I own, but it’s a pound lighter than my next one, and for backpacking that’s…
