Cheap, Simple and Lightweight Bivy, but NOT waterproof on its own. This thing works exactly as I intended to use it; which is to say that it’s a super light and simple layer of protection for my quilt and sleeping pad. It’s as simple as it gets. It’s two pieces of light weight nylon, one longer than the other, sewed together and seam taped with a draw cord to cinch it up if needed. I use it in conjunction with a 8’x10′ Silnylon tarp. Windproof I have had this bivy for a while. The initial reaction was that this bivy bag is a bit thin and could possibly rip out in the field. Before I took it with me on my camping trip, I sprayed the whole thing with waterproofing spray just in case. It was a chilly night. 24 F with high winds, but this bivy bag stopped virtually all wind from seeping through. This definitely kept my sleeping bag warmer, by protecting it from the wind.
