Not only were hammocks used for sleeping, but they were also used for transporting goods. The people of northeastern Brazil still prefer to sleep in hammocks, whereas throughout the country they served a decorative function that offers enviable relaxation. Therefore, a hammock must be woven with special care; its elaboration includes various steps and the conjoint work of several artisans. Customer Video Review Length:: 0:04 Mins Love love love! Exactly what I imagined ! Beautifully handmade, adds a bohemian touch! I laid it over a spreader bar hammock on a wooden arc base! Using it right now while I write this review! Can’t emphasize how awesome this is! High durable quality . Only thing I noticed is that it has a “natural” odor to it which I’m sure will air out…..all in all, exceeded all expectations !!!

Great to sleep in! I use this hammock as a nightly sleeper in my bedroom and it is SO comfy! I used to toss and turn endlessly when I used a mattress, to the point where I only got 3-4 hours of sleep per night. I tried several mattresses, even some really expensive ones, before doing research and hearning stories similar to the one I’m typing out right now. This is a very durable hammock, and very well-made. I spilled a few drops of tea one time and I expected it to be stained, but it came right out…

Love it! Exactly as I expected. Being Brazilian, I know my hammocks and this is a nice one. Even the smell is what I remember from my childhood. I got it to replace my old one, bought in Brazil, eaten by squirrels last spring. My mom told me to put pepper on the strings to keep them away. And knowing it is fair trade, makes it acceptable that it costs more than double of the next best.
