Can’t Be Beat! For the money, you simply cannot beat these Opinels. This number 9 is large, lightweight and has a carbon steel blade with a full flat grind. For me, that’s everything you could possibly want at this price point.

Hubie says:

A Beast of A Knife and Don’t Let the Cost Fool You! This is a beast of a knife at an extremely affordable knife. Makes a perfect camp chef knife. The knife is almost a foot long when open and the blade is razor sharp. The carbon steel will discolor when cutting acidic foods but that just adds to the coolness factor. The blade locks open and closed and it’s a very simplistic design. Avoid getting this wood handle wet, it will swell and cause the blade to be very hard to open and closed. Put it out in direct sunlight or in some rice to draw…

Steven Parente says:

Arrived razor sharp and easy to sharpen Arrived razor sharp and easy to sharpen. I first found out about this knife when a friend who fished on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska turned me onto it. The Opinels were supplied to the entire crew to process salmon. Inexpensive, good construction, solid saftey lock and scary sharp. You have to take care of it. Wax the handle and oil the blade. It’s high carbon steel, but that’s why I bought it.
