It gave excellent sun protection and was waterproof This hat worked very well on a recent trip to the Yucatan. It gave excellent sun protection and was waterproof. The under the chin ties worked well also. It does fold up but you need a good sized bag. I kept it folded in my suitcase and it came out fine. I will be taking it on all my trips.
