Light weight, strong light I was nervous about purchasing this lamp after reading reviews on it not having a far reach on trails, and essentially being bad for any type of night hiking. I used this on the Catalina trail for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We ended up late to our first campsite and had to hike in the dark. Using the stronger white light setting we both had no issues navigating the trail (we each had a petzl) and were able to see far enough ahead on the trail to not trip or feel unsafe. The…

Awesome Ultralight headlamp, too dim to be a primary? It could be 50 lumens, but due to the fact there is no focus and its a flood beam it really doesn’t do all that great of a job. Love how lightweight it is. Exactly 1oz with batteries. To get it down to .8oz take the whistle/cord lock off the strap, shorten the strap a bit, and tie a knot instead.Its bright enough so you can get things done in the dark, but it can be stressful walking through rough terrain at a decent pace because you cant see things all that well. Great light but be aware of the changes for 2017. This is a redesign of one of my favorite lights. It’s superlight, extra-small, waterproof to 1m, and the lithium batteries last a long time in an emergency kit.If you own any of the previous models, be aware that the not only has the headband/storage case changed back from the retractable headband to the red plastic case but that the cluster of LEDs has been replaced by a single white LED and an offset red LED.The new LEDs have different run stats, as well.
