Easy and effective fire kit. Works exactly as advertised, simple as that. My kit came with two good sized pieces of chert (flint rock) with edges already knapped and ready to use, and a quality steel “C” striker. The included char cloth and tinder material (sheets of felt, I believe) came in their own separate tins, which can be used to make more char cloth. Excellent!!! Arrived earlier than expected. Came with two sharpened stones, plenty of jute for more than a few birds’ nests, and a half dozen sheets of fabric to make char cloth. Also came with a smaller tin that you can use for a multitude of other things.Right out of the package, worked like a charm. Both my children – ages 10 and 5, respectively, were able to produce sparks immediately. Neither one has ever used primitive flint and steel before. Praise the Sun for this amazing product! At first I was hesitant to purchase this flint and steel kit mainly because I was not impressed by the look of the flint striker; however I am beyond glad to have bought this piece. It arrived three days early and I was pleased to find that the striker may not be the coolest looking, but it isn’t “ugly” or lame by any means.
