Works as a hot pack. The microwave keeps on breaking down in the office & I was tired of eating cold lunches so tried this as an alternative heat source to keep my lunch warm in my frigid office. How cold is my office? If I bring a 1,1 qt Thermos with 6 ice cubes in the drink in the morning, open the cap & leave the cap off all day, sipping the drink, I still have 6 ice cubes when I go home. Keeps my lunch warm (I pack it in a small Coleman cooler) for 5-6 hours, not piping hot but warm. Now I hope it will last…

Very nice! I bought these as a replacement for some that came with my Pyrex Portables (the hot pack exploded in the microwave). I’ve used it only once and it did a great job keeping my dish hot on a 2-hour drive (of course, it was hot from the oven, as well). I hope it will hold up for many uses. I thought it was a good value and I like that I can either heat it up OR freeze it — I don’t have to use it for one OR the other, the way I had to with my old packs.

Not the same as the original packs These are not the same as the hot and cold packs I was replacing. They are super thin and floppy. I question whether Pyrex even actually made them. If they did, it wasn’t a wise decision. They seem very cheap compared to the original one which was maybe 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick and held its shape whether it was frozen or not. I’m very disappointed and would not recommend this item.
