Good function, BUT… This hat came in perfect shape and I was excited to get on the river with it. I am a professional guide so sun protection and breathability are critical for me. The good: This hat provides great sun protection. The slightest breeze offers a cooling effect on hot days. On the hottest days dipping the hat in the river creates an evaporative cooling affect, very nice. As far as function goes this hat is a winner. The bad: The material is brittle. The seam where the head band is sewn in is cracked…
Poor packaging lead to damage/return. Came in a box that was way too small…the hat was pretty much crushed into the box to get it to fit. Straw damaged and pieces of the straw were littered about the inside of the box.
Dry and Brittle The Quiksilver Men’s Pierside Straw Sun Hat arrived with a hole in the top (see first photo). The straw was very dry and brittle. The box showed no damage, so I think this damage happened prior to shipment. I do like the cowboy shape of the hat and the neck draw string is nice and has a nice cincher bead. Just picking up the hat out of the box I could hear the straw breaking. I sprayed it inside and out several times with Old English Lemon Oil Furniture Polish, 12 fl oz Bottle (from…
