Perfect for drones! Bought this for my DJI Phantom quad copter after my friend lost his in a flyaway. This is perfect for this application. You need to get a sim card and activate it. The sim was $10 and I got a $2 per day plan which is only billed on days u use it. If u need to locate it u simply call the phone number and it will txt u back lat/long and a link to google maps with the location. Well worth it for piece of mind.
Very nice tracker, works with GPRS and cellular data (see tips) I ordered two of these for use in GPRS mode, for tracking model aircraft if they crashed. Both of the units work well, I’m using them with H2O pre-paid SIM cards. I did have a bit of trouble figuring out the correct command sequence to use the GPRS data mode instead of the SMS texting mode, but now that it’s sorted out both are working as well as I’d hoped. works great so far, easy setup I’m not sure why some people have difficulty with the setup. I had it up and running after sending one simple command to it then calling it with a hang up. It sent me back a text with location on google maps. This is exactly what I wanted it for. I plan to use it to attach to my drone in case it gets lost during flight I can track it down and recover it.
