Design accurately harkens back to olden days – if that’s what you want. If you want a compass that’s like what mariners would have used a few hundred years ago, this is it. It doesn’t get more realistic than this, without poking a magnetized needle through a cork and floating it in a bowl of water.
… is sort of weirdly made but the compass is beautiful and I would have given it 5 stars had … The case is sort of weirdly made but the compass is beautiful and I would have given it 5 stars had it not been for an off center crease down the middle of the poem. it isn’t deep and its only noticeable if tilted at certain angles but I still would have returned it for another but it was a gift for my brother and he says it doesn’t bother him soooo…
A very personal gift – highly recommended Lovely gift. I purchased this for Christmas for one of my sons. He is particularly difficult to buy for. He was pleased. It was something I picked out just for him. It does work and will point to magnetic north. It has a nice antique appearance. It’s weighty and I like the leather box/pouch it comes in. I would recommend this for anyone. As Robert Frost is my favorite poet, the poem is perfect for an adult child that because of work may be moving away. He’s always talking about it…
