That’s not a bad thing, but if you are expecting a standard … These are smaller than standard pliers. That’s not a bad thing, but if you are expecting a standard size set of pliers, you will be disappointed. With that being said, they do withstand salt water/sand well. A standard set of steel pliers may make one surf fishing trip or 2-3 if you really take care of them.
