The ruthe 2.75Lbs (total weight) hickory handle camp hatchet has compact light weight design that makes it perfect for campers and hikers. But it is not a lightweight in terms of the work it can do. It has a Sharpened hardened edge that will not dull quickly. Great for making kindling, shedding branches to make firewood and can also help Pound in Tent States. Huge head, and dull doesn’t do the edge justice, it’s actually round The head is much larger than shown, almost comically so. The edge comes literally rounded. So if you want a seriously top heavy piece that is as much a hammer as a hatchet, then buy it. Overall it really isn’t bad if can sharpen and cut it yourself (decent handle and steel), but I don’t have the tools so it’s useless.
NOT AS DESCRIBED. Axe head on hatchet handle. Item picture shows a hatchet with a 600g head and 14 inch handle. Item description shows hatchet weight at 1.2 lb. Length listed was 14 inches. Number on head stamp under weight shows 5131.
Ruthe by Picard Hatchet Good value for money, this is a serious hatchet although it needed a good sharpening, weight is slightly on the heavy side at 1 kg ( 2.2 lb ) and grinding on the hatchet head could have been finished a little better. This is made in Asia by a subsidiary of Picard Germany.
