Safe alternative to liquid charcoal fire starters. This product has been stringently tested and complies with the South Coast Air Quality Management District Rule 1174 ref. C58. Squares light quickly and easily even when wet and burn 8-10 minutes. Suitable for charcoal grills, fireplaces, wood and pellet stoves and campfires. These compressed wood chip and wax based squares contain 10-percent recycled wood and paper fiber. Just break off several fire starters, stand on end with edges touching and light.

Affordable effective fire starters for my cabin wood stove Length:: 1:55 Mins I use these to start my cabin wood-stove. Sometimes I add paper as well but it is not necessary as you can see from the video. Either way, I am done with flints and rubbing stick together ;-)There are a 144 of the smallest pieces, I generally use a couple to start the stove, so that is 72 startings or several years at my 3 season camp. Careful Big Green Egg owners…. I bought these as an alternative to the higher priced Big Green Egg charcoal fire starters. Since using these I frequently experience a plastic and polymer after taste which permeates my food especially if it’s a short cook. If you must buy these I highly suggest planning at least an hour or an hour and half burn time prior to putting the food on.
Great for wood stoves I heat my house with wood as main heat source, so I don’t need that often to re-start the fire, but when I do – these Rutland fire starter squares are the ticket!See attached picture – these burn a nice big flame, and you probably get 7-10 minutes out of each one.
