EXTREMELY nice for a memory gift, it can be engraved. It comes in a BEAUTIFUL wooden box. I bought this and hoped I could have it engraved as a memory piece. It came on time as promised, I couldnât wait to open it. The wooden box alone was absolutely beautiful and wrapped nicely. The compass came wrapped in the wooden box very nice so there were no problems with that. The compass is antique style, what I was looking for as well, not to shiny. Very nice! Purchased for Granddaughter! I purchased this item for my Granddaughter who has joined the US Navy and is scheduled leave soon after the Holidays.I was somewhat unhappy with the box when I received it and wrote a review about the issue. I was then promptly contacted by the Sailors Art and the issue was taken care of! They rush shipped another box and managed to get it delivered before Christmas! OUTSTANDING Gift, inside cover suitable for engraving (by a skilled and confident engraver, shop around and FIND one) These are OUTSTANDING compasses.I bought two of them for our grand daughters in remembrance of our hike at Harpers Ferry to observe the eclipse. They were a big hit, especially when Papa used them as an excuse to teach the girls (8 & 10) how to use a compass and read a hiking map.As a professional sea going naval officer, I am quite picky about my navigation aids.
