Might last a year…. Bought these last April.This was my first pair of Salomons. I used to wear Merrills, but after several pairs of those that were very poor quality I decided to look elsewhere. These Salomons fit very well, required no break-in, and were actually waterproof (unlike the Merrills).Usage: 2-3 times a week on trails thru woods and fields, hiking with my dog. Salomons vs Merrells: Salomon for the win! These are very well designed shoes. Grippy, hugs the feet, and provides stable sure-footnedness. I wouldnât wear these on hot summer days though, because the waterproofing membrane traps a lot of heat. For cold winter days, these shoes are the best! Some reviewers talked about a crumpling sound when walking in these shoes and they are right. Great hiking shoes I recently purchased these Salomon Men’s X Ultra Prime hiking shoes for my Grand Canyon rim-to-rim hike. Previously I had Merrell shoes and was very happy with them but they were several years old and time to replace, especially before a big hike like the Grand Canyon.
