Introducing three innovative items for your next meal outdoors: Sea to Summit’s X-Bowl, X-Plate, and X-Mug are collapsible hybrids comprised of a rigid, cut-resistant base made of high temperature, food-grade nylon and walls made of food-grade flexible silicone, so they fold flat for compact packing. Each are tough enough to handle chopping with their sturdy nylon base. The silicone sides can withstand temperatures of hot foods and nearby hot surfaces up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. The sides are flexible, so pouring liquids is easy. When collapsed down flat, the X-Mug nest within the X-Bowl, which handily fits into the X-Plate for extra space savings when packed.

I’m sure this is great for the camper and overnight backpacker I’m sure this is great for the camper and overnight backpacker, but quite honestly I purchase this to use with take out food. My job has me traveling and staying in hotels each week and sometimes at the end of the day all I want to do is order delivery food to my hotel room. Most of the time restaurants bring you your food in styrofoam or paper containers. The Sea to Summit Plate is perfect because it folds almost flat and slides neatly into my work backpack and if the food needs to be heated…

Nice plate, but expensive I love this plate.

A. Hawkbird says:

Nice idea, but… …whatever your food smells like at your last meal, be prepared to smell it again. I have tried washing these over and over again, but the smell of the Backpacker’s Pantry Pad Thai will not come out. After eating Louisiana Red Beans and Rice out of the same bowl, the smell got worse. All of the collapsible bowls and mugs from Sea to Summit retain the odors… coffee, noodle soup, hot chocolate, etc. Everything we made smelled terrible because of the retention of odors.
