Great compass only minor gripe This compass is replacing an older Silva Explorer model from the late 80’s. It works great for sighting and is very easy to keep a bearing in rough terrain. I haven’t had to use this on a night search, so I can’t give feed back on the glow in the dark sighting being brighter than the older compass. But during the day/and in rain it has performed great. My only complaint was on the silicone feet on the base plate. Since there are only three, it tends to rock back and forth when plotting grid…

My previous Silva Compass lasted for 35 years, subjected to floating around in my pack and other unfriendly venues, including being stored in the windshield bag of my snowmachine outside at temperatures down to 60 below.
