If you’re a beginner, the Starter Model 1-2-3 compass is a great tool to get started working with maps and orienteering. It�s a 2″x3″ base plate, a great size for mapwork and pocket size.

Good for Cub Scouts to learn on. Purchased as a Cub Scout prize. Easy to read and use. The only negative is that I wish the lanyard hole was a little bigger.
Which way is home? Just what I wanted. Which way do i go, which direction am I going? Use it in my tank bag map pouch on my motorcycle. And to see where the sun will come up for the warmth to start the day.
This compass is right on target We used this on an entry level orienteering course and we were able to navigate it with the best of ’em.I think the hole for the cord could be larger, but a key ring takes care of that.
