The Smartwool community is a collection of people who believe that time outside is valuable, restorative, and essential for everyone.

When Smartwool started making socks back in 1994, their founders simply wanted to be able to ski longer without getting cold toes.

That’s when they discovered the benefits of Merino wool as a performance fabric. It was soft (softer than any wool they had every felt), moisture-wicking, thermoregulating (warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s warm), sustainable, and odor-neutralizing- helping to keep feet dry, comfortable, and warm for longer than the synthetic socks they were wearing at the time. It worked so well, in fact, that Smartwool uses it in almost every single item they make.

Smartwool was the first outdoor company to make performance Merino wool ski socks- revolutionizing the category and forever changing the way outdoor enthusiasts viewed their feet.

Smartwool’s whole brand was built on the desire to be comfortable on outdoor adventures-we wanted to go farther and experience more. And that drive continues to fuel everything Smartwool does. From their Merino wool supply chain to the Smartwool advocacy program to how they design their socks and apparel, Smartwool exists to help you play, love, and laugh in the great outdoors as often as you would like.

I love smartwool socks and was looking for a lighter version … I love smartwool socks and was looking for a lighter version for summer. The description “ultra light” led me to think these socks were lightweight, but they aren’t, at least not what I was looking for. Most of the sock is padded and thick, though the material on the top of the foot is lighter weight. They weren’t what I was expecting and didn’t work for me. Smartwool’s PhD® Run Ultra Light Mid Crew is truly lightweight.

Great product Got several of these in various sizes for men and women. Everyone agrees the socks feel great and keep feet very comfortable in the shoes. We live in Florida. It has been 95 to 100 with 90 % humidity or so. The socks really do wick the moisture away from feet and keep the foot dry. Nail fungus is a real problem in Florida but looks like we won’t be dealing with it 🙂 Really great footwear

Are these really Smartwool socks? I believe these will be ok, but I believe that Smartwool is trademarked, and I notice these socks do NOT have the trademark. I believe you should check this out. Not sure these can be advertised as Smartwool unless they are authentic. They feel differently than the Smartwool trademarked socks I already have in my drawer.
