Caring for Your Fixed Blade Knife

Keeping your knife clean, dry, oiled and sharp are the primary defenses against corrosion, wear, and potential injury. Be sure to clean the blade and handle after each use–however, do not soak your knife in water. A mild solution of soap and water should remove any dirt and debris that may have accumulated during use (avoid harsh detergents such as laundry or dish soap, and chlorine products).

After cleaning or after exposure to moisture be sure to completely dry your knife blade and handle, taking special care with any sensitive handle materials. Use a soft cotton cloth or chamois and a small amount of moisture-displacing oil (such as WD-40 or 3-in-1), on the blade only, to prevent water spots and oxidation from forming. Fingerprints and weather are the primary causes of rusting or corrosion on a knife blade. To keep your knife looking its best, SOG recommends that you give your blade a light coat of oil after each cleaning, and prior to long term storage.

Buy this knife! This knife is one of the best knives ive had the ability to use. The blade length allows it to be the perfect length for doing basic survival tasks. Such as wood cutting and batoning through the wood. The coating on the knife has a tendency to scrape off, so that took off a star, but the rest of the knife is great. The handle is not the most comfortable for smaller hands, and is a little rough, but thats the point and keeps a sure grip even when wet. The knife comes sharp out of the box and…

Well made Knife worth the money The SOG SE37-K Seal Team Elite knife is not only a well constructive knife, but has a very appealing blade design. The partially serrated 7-inch clip point blade is made from AUS-8 Stainless Steel with black TiNi finish. The AUS-8 steel has a hardness rating of 57-58 ( which is the same range as KA-BAR’s 1095 steel). The AUS-8 steel has a high carbon, but lower Chromium content which means that this steel has strength, edge holding, and is more resistance to corrosion.

SOG at its best! This knife looks and feels the business. I have a couple of SOG tools and I have grown to love and trust this brand. The blades of their knives are more often than not sharp out the box. I’ve always wanted this blade and now that I have it I feel somewhat complete. I like the length and the serrated edge of the blade and it has a good weight to it in the hand. The handle grip feels comfortable and solid. All in all I’m very happy with this purchase.
