The knife industry is constantly pushing the envelope searching for, and testing, higher performance blade steels. ZDP189 is rapidly asserting itself as an up-and-coming steel. It’s a powdered metal made by Hitachi that has phenomenal chemistry with 3% carbon. The hardness is around 64Rc and edge retention is exceptional. This solid ZDP-189 steel blade is the hottest, hardest and highest performing steel in the knife industry today. The Delica4 features a full flat ground ZDP-189 steel blade, a Green FRN Bi-Drectional Textured Handle, four-way clip option, screw-together construction, skeletonized steel internal liners, phosphor bronze washers, David Boye Dent, spine jimping, and an enlarged opening hole.

I wanted to give him something that WASN”T one of those overweight, heavy, military type blades with a composite handle. Those are a dime a dozen and just make you look like a tool or that you are trying to be some kind of tough-guy. This comes across more elegantly as a gentleman’s knife (albeit a serious gentleman’s…
Keeper The Spyderco Delica 4 is one the best EDC knives available. There are plenty of well-written reviews and videos published already; so do a Google search for that. Instead, I’m going list some details specifically with the knife that I received from Amazon and my experience.
It’s light and melts in your pocket, but the wave features seems a bit out of place Having loved the Tenacious, my first Spyderco, I moved on to this one. I still use and love my Tenacious though! This knife is small and SUPER light with great steel and terrific grip! It comes out fast using the wave or the thumb hole. It’s drawbacks (for me) really even out the advantages of this knife making it “just ok”. I like it but it makes me look for more.
