I did this experiment twice with great results. These are great socks. I wear a mens size 8.5-9 shoe. I purchased the medium because I don’t like it when my socks bunch up in my shoe. I washed them and they got real small. However they stretch right back. They fit perfect. My feet usually get sweaty and smells. I live in Hawaii and work in an air conditioned office. Great Quality and Excellent Value… Great quality and a great value! I own a few pairs of Darn Tough socks which I use for skiing/hiking etc and they’re excellent, best socks I’ve owned.
