Previously owned the 108s and loved them. The insoles were paper thin to start … Previously owned the 108s and loved them.The insoles were paper thin to start with, and I shredded them within the first 2 months. Replaced with combat boot insoles. Within 6 months of purchase however,, the outside edge of the toe cup (right where it says “North Face”) had cut a hole into the mesh of the shoe, that degraded quickly and now pokes through to my sock (compromising any water resistance they may have held.) Surprisingly comfortable from day 1 I was very impressed with these hiking shoes. I bought them for a trip to Sedona, AZ. We hiked around 4-6 miles a day, up and down rocky and sandy terrain, and they performed beautifully. I have a “Morton’s toe” problem with my second metatarsal, and even with the hiking had no pain with these shoes. They were surprisingly comfortable from day 1, gave good traction on the rocky terrain, and even a bit of ankle support. Very satisfied with these.
