Best Paracord since active duty As a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne, I know a few things about paracord. Being Infantry, I used paracord and 500 mph tape for just about everything – sometimes I wondered if I was carrying more weight in equipment or paracord and tape! Since I had to trust my life to it during parachute operations I became something of a connoisseur. This brand is going in my load out from here on.

So now I need to look elsewhere to find what I need (which does not make me happy after spending $16) When I opened the box I was surprised to see a cord that looked more orange or faded red than the deep red that was pictured. Not the best MIL-C-5040H, but the most robust by far. I purchased three hanks from three separate MIL-C-5040H Class III paracord manufacturers in black. The first thing I did was cut about 1″ off of each hank to expose the inner strands and fray the sheath to examine the quality of the weave. Here are my findings.
