It doesn’t seem to pick up as good as my old radio The CMX560 Bearcat CB works ok for very close talk, It doesn’t seem to pick up as good as my old radio. It only has three levels of squelch so you can’t really set it for the far away talk. One of the most annoying things however is the external speaker jack doesn’t disable the speaker in the mic, so you keep hearing both. If you wanted to wear a headset so nobody had to hear it but you, It won’t work.
Nice radio, compact, easy to use. Rarely do I need a CB, I have better resources available. However, there are times it’s the right tool for the job. I’ll be driving out to Texas and back from California next month, and I figured it was the right time to try CB again. Simply having something else to listen to on the long drive was one goal. Having another way of knowing what was going on around me was the other. Last time I had a CB in a vehicle was back in the late 1990’s, so its been a while.
5 by 5 transmition The unit is perfect for just about anywhere. I put it just under the drivers leg space under the dash and it takes up absolutely no space at all. The speaker did not put out much sound so I added an external speaker and now I and everyone around me can hear the transition clearly!
