Thin and cool I wear Bates brand combat style boots for work anywhere from 12 hours to 24 hours straight, and have a problem with my feet sweating and starting to smell by the end of the shift. These socks are very thin and keep my feet dry. Yes, my feet still get hot but that’s because the boots are hot and don’t breathe much. the picture posted here makes it seem like they should come to the mid calf I purchased these socks in an attempt to stay as dry as possible in the Texas summer heat. They fit my feet well, and seem to not be so heavy. However, the picture posted here makes it seem like they should come to the mid calf. I am 5’9″ and the socks rose almost to my knees. I had the sense to test other products alongside this one, and found Wigwam’s Merino sock to be a much lighter, shorter, and breathable option. I would really only prefer these if there were some major sale price.

A nice sock for a hiking boot. These are a nice looking fully synthetic sock that works well in a hiking boot. They look exactly like the photo so, no surprises there. I either go with wool or synthetic but these days I lean more towards something like these Cool-Lite Ultimax socks. They wick moisture better than wool and don’t stink as much. They also dry pretty quickly if you wash them on the trail. Forget about cotton, your feet will end up soaked and smelly. Both wool and synthetics hold up to wear tear pretty well…
