it’s great. It’s much too small and likely inaccurate to … For the price, as an emergency backup, it’s great. It’s much too small and likely inaccurate to use as a primary compass in no-visibility situations, unless you can mount it -really- close to the steering station, but it’s a nice peace-of-mind backup (hard to drop this one overboard… same can’t be said for hand-bearing compasses!).One annoyance: I have had zero luck finding a cover. We’ll see how long it lasts mounted in sunlight on my sailboat.

Very Nice Fit the hole and looks great. It survived the first trip out to the dunes. I calibrated it by placing a small super magnet on the metal steering column about three inches away. I moved the magnet around until the compass agreed with my iPhone. Just thought I’d share that.

Good, but needs adjustability I got this compass for my sailboat because I wanted a dash mount model so I’d quit hitting my elbow on my top mount compass. I sail in the gulf a lot and when you point west(without autopilot), you need to watch a compass heading to stay on track. This is a pretty good compass for that. I can read it well from 8-10 ft away, the light is perfect at night, and its good in the waves or while heeled over. The downside to this model is that there is no adjustment for north.
