Surface of the shoes upper is painted with a layer of coating which won’t let water easily penetrate into shoes but form droplets in the cover(just like lotus leaf). I got these hikers in on a Friday and did … I got these hikers in on a Friday and did a 13 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail on Saturday. They did quite well considering I’ve never hiked that distance in 6 1/2 hours. The soles are a softer rubber which absorbs more impact when hiking. They are water resistant when walking through wet grass and such…not sure about anything beyond that. You may want to replace the factory insole with one offering more arch support. Its incredible to find such quality at a lower price
Buyer beware Before I purchased the shoes I read all the reviews and everyone seemed to like them a lot. Comfortable shoe but with quality/durability issue Shoe fit well and appearance exceeded expectations, but after wearing it for several hours over 2 days the sole started to become unglued from the body of the shoe.
